The C&IT Excellence Awards attracted a 450-strong crowd of key players in the C&I sector to celebrate the best events and suppliers from the past year.
The event received a record response on UK Twitter, with #citawards trending in second spot during the ceremony, and later in top spot as the event wrapped up.
Winners of the evening included Excel London, which was awarded Best UK Conference Venue, Visit Belfast, which claimed Destination Marketing Team of the Year and Live Union, which won Best Use of Technology and/or Social Media for Unite Students Team Talk Live.
The awards recognised events for top brands including Google, JCB, Sainsbury’s, Toyota, Siemens, AstraZeneca, Tata Consultancy Services and DFS.
This week (26th – 28th September) the Ryder Cup, golf’s showpiece event visits Scotland and shines a light on host venue and events industry favourite, Gleneagles hotel and estate. The USA team, without the injured Tiger Woods are considered the underdogs after losing the previous two contests despite their higher average world rankings.
The five-star ‘chateau-style’ property offers 232 rooms, including 26 suites; four restaurants, including Scotland’s only two-Michelin-star eaterie Andrew Fairlie; a high-end ESPA spa; and 850 acres of highland countryside that offers three world-class golf courses and a range of outdoor pursuits.
The venue has also just unveiled a £250,000 refurbishment its flagship conference venue, The Gleneagles Suite. The 330sqm space, which can host 280 delegates theatre-style, has been completely transformed to tie in with the Art Deco style of the hotel and enhance its grand features. There are a 14 event spaces in total, with a range of capacities and styles.
